‘Neptunea’ is a Belgian group of active conchologists and shell collectors.

We decide in favour of the following targets:

• monthly meetings at Prinses Stefanieplein 43, 8400 Oostende, Belgium;
• publication of the magazine ‘Neptunea’, managed by the responsible Frank Nolf;
• a website <www.neptunea.org>, run by Delphine Clement as a webmaster;
• determination of mollusks, exchange of knowledge and shell specimens: the ‘Square House’ possesses not only a library with hundreds of books, periodicals and papers but also a number of microscopes available for members to study their molluscs;
• possibility to contact the ‘Square House’ for online determination of shells;
• the description of new species and the revision of a species, a genus or a family in the magazine;
• exchange of information at the monthly meetings: collection techniques, cleaning methods for shells, discussion on recently published books and issues of periodicals;
• power point presentations by highly qualified lectures;
• a website with travelogues and pictures of molluscs in a gallery of European and West African shells;

Beleid

‘Neptunea’ is een Belgische groep van actieve conchyliologen en schelpenverzamelaars.

Ze opteert voor volgende doelstellingen:

• maandelijkse vergaderingen in de ‘Square House’;
• publicatie van het tijdschrift ‘Neptunea’, beheerd door verantwoordelijke uitgever Frank Nolf;
• een website <www.neptunea.org>, met Delphine Clement als webmaster;
• determinatie van mollusken, uitwisseling van kennis en exemplaren: de ‘Square House’ beschikt over een bibliotheek met honderden boeken, tijdschriften en artikels evenals voldoende microscopen die continu – het hele jaar na afspraak – ter beschikking staan voor de leden bij de studie van mollusken;
• mogelijkheid om permanent contact op te nemen met de ‘Square House’ voor online determinatie van schelpen;
• de beschrijving van nieuwe soorten en de revisie van een soort, genus of familie in het tijdschrift;
• uitwisseling van informatie op de maandelijkse bijeenkomsten: collectie-technieken, reiniging van schelpen, nieuwe uitgaven en nummers van tijdschriften ter inzage;
• voordrachten met power point-projecties door gespecialiseerde sprekers;
• een website met reisverslagen en foto’s van mollusken in een galerij van Europese en West-Afrikaanse schelpen;
