Besides the primary aims many other interesting initiatives have been taken in the past thirty years: numerous lectures, field trips and daily excursions (Oostduinkerke, De Panne, private collections, ‘Stedelijk Aquarium Oostende’, ‘Heemkundige kring Turkeyenhof’ in Bredene, Schoolmuseum in Ghent, Audresselles, St. Omer, …), but also visits to London or group travels to Brittany, and the organisation of mini-shellshows or extramural activities as there are:

• Ghent: shell show at the yearly Fossils- and Minerals Fair organized by ‘Nautilus’ in March 1987;

• ‘Juwels from the Sea’ in cooperation with B.V.C., an exhibition in the room ‘Fernand Colin’ of the KB-tower in Antwerp from 16 August 1991 until 11 October 1991;

• ‘Seasymphony I’: an exhibition in collaboration with the ‘Vriendenkring Noordzee-Aquarium Oostende’ and other societies. Room El Mar: 23 July until 4 August 1992;

• ‘Seasymphony II’: a similar exhibition in the ‘Feest- en Cultuurpaleis’ at Ostend from 24 July until 4 August 1993;

• ‘De Pier’ at Blankenberge: a permanent exhibition from 1 April 1998 until 30 September 1999;

• ‘Shell Show and Fair’ in Gemeenschapshuis “’t Schelpestik”, Vosseslag, De Haan on 11 June 2000;

• Hasselt: information desk by Fernand Boone and Mr. & Mrs. Frans Van den Broeck at  Aqua Expo (International Aquarium Fair in the ‘Grenslandhallen’ at Hasselt) from 6 until 10 January 2001 in collaboration with the ‘Vriendenkring Noordzee-Aquarium Oostende’.

Behalve de basisdoelstellingen werden gedurende dertig jaar veel interessante initiatieven genomen: er zijn de talrijke voordrachten, de dagexcursies (Oostduinkerke, De Panne, privéverzamelingen, Stedelijk Aquarium Oostende, heemkundige kring Turkeyenhof in Bredene, Schoolmuseum in Gent, Audresselles, St. Omer, …), maar ook bezoeken aan Londen of groepsreizen naar Bretagne, organisatie van mini-shellshows en extra muros activiteiten zoals:

• Gent: tentoonstelling van schelpen op de jaarlijkse Fossielen- en Mineralenbeurs van ‘Nautilus’ in maart 1987

• ‘Juwelen uit de zee’ in samenwerking met B.V.C. een tentoonstelling in de zaal ‘Fernand Colin’ van de KB-toren in Antwerpen van 16 augustus 1991 tot 11 oktober 1991.

• ‘Zeesymfonie I’: een tentoonstelling in samenwerking met de ‘Vriendenkring Noordzee-Aquarium Oostende’ en andere verenigingen. Zaal El Mar: 23 juli tot 4 augustus 1992.

• ‘Zeesymfonie II’: een gelijkaardige tentoonstelling in het Feest- en Cultuurpaleis te Oostende van 24 juli tot 4 augustus 1993.

• De Pier te Blankenberge: een permanente tentoonstelling van 1 april 1998 tot en met 30 september 1999.

• Schelpententoonstelling en Schelpenbeurs in het Gemeenschapshuis “’t Schelpestik”, Vosseslag, De Haan op 11 juni 2000.

• Hasselt: infostand door Fernand Boone en het echtpaar Frans Van de Broeck op Aqua Expo (Internationale Aquariumbeurs in de Grenslandhallen van Hasselt) van 6 tot 10 januari 2011 in samenwerking met ‘Vriendenkring Noordzee-Aquarium Oostende’.
