The endemic West African species of the family Glycymerididae (Mollusca: Bivalvia), with description of two new species, pp. 1-8, pls I-XXVI, by F. Nolf & F. Swinnen.

Several decades after the discovery of specimens of a new species of Glycymeris, more material turned up from the Canaries and Senegal. This species is finally described in the present paper. Specimens of Glycymeris rafaelmesai sp. nov. from the Canaries and Mauritania have already been mentioned and figured in recent literature. Further research also revealed its presence in Senegal and Angola. Another new species from Angola is briefly mentioned. The remaining endemic West Africa species of the genus Glycymeris are described and compared with each other in this paper.
